Chapter 48
About forty guild members swarmed past me. I was so overwhelmed I couldn’t take it all in. I hurriedly corrected them— “W-Wait a minute! I didn’t say ‘kill them all’!”
“Oh. By order of the Saintess! Capture them alive!” Sister Liwei corrected herself, leading the guild members as they charged.
My gaze passed through them to the five remaining “Seven-Leaf Tree” members. Every one of them was shrinking back. Their leader, the black-haired girl “Death’s-Blade” Yelijia, “tsked” and, while backing away, said, “Re-Retreat!”
“It won’t be that easy for you to escape,” Sister Mouyue said, stepping out of the “door” and casting a spell, applying a hunting mark to all the “Seven-Leaf Tree” members. A conspicuous red arrow appeared above each of their heads. Now, they had nowhere to hide.
Sister Aijieliya had vanished. In the blink of an eye, she reappeared in front of the “Convictor,” raised her sheathed black blade “Demon-Slayer,” and backhanded-ly stabbed him, pinning him to the wall.
My sister spoke, her voice ice-cold. In an instant, she disappeared again. Immediately after, I heard another BOOM as a wall exploded. Another unlucky person had been caught by Sister Aijieliya.
“Hey, at least leave one for me!” Sister Liwei protested.
“The Headmaster’s mobility is a little too strong, isn’t it? She’s dealing with them like an eagle catching chicks…” Lian Qi said in my ear.
“Mhm. It’s because my sister’s magic, ‘Wind’s Gyre,’ allows her to transport like the wind. It looks just like teleportation.” I coughed lightly. “Also… you can put me down now.”
I’ve been princess-carried by Lian Qi this entire time!
Me, a boy, being princess-carried… it’s really embarrassing, okay?
Only then did Lian Qi react, letting out an awkward “Oh.” My feet had just touched the ground when Qifeng arrived with a group of knights, sealing off the street entrance completely.
“Fei’er, are you two okay?” Qifeng ran over and asked.
“We should escort the Saintess to a safe location immediately,” said a white-robed Templar ojisan. I didn’t know how many Templars Cardinal Barr had gathered to help, but I glanced at the front rank and they were all Templars, every single one of them at the fourth tier of strength.
“No, that’s alright.” I looked in the direction “Death’s-Blade” had fled. The forty guild members were in hot pursuit, while “Death’s-Blade” leaped from rooftop to rooftop, faster than a monkey.
“We can’t let Death’s-Blade escape! Lian Qi, you come with me. Qifeng, you stay here and bring the people Sister Aijieliya took down to justice.”
After speaking, I gave chase. Lian Qi followed closely behind me. I’m not wearing high heels today, you know.
“Don’t worry. Now that they’ve run into me, not a single one of them is getting away today,” Sister Aijieliya said, casting a spell.
As I gave chase, I felt the weather change abruptly. An impenetrable wall of wind rose rapidly from the horizon, quickly enclosing the surrounding several square kilometers of streets. However, the “wind wall” was just the tip of the iceberg. Its true form was a gigantic tornado, and we were essentially in the eye of the storm.
I couldn’t help but be surprised. Isn’t Sister Aijieliya taking this a bit too seriously? She actually used the magic “Aether Wind”? If she just made the eye of the storm contract, she could easily destroy an entire city!
Now, it was impossible for “Death’s-Blade” to escape the eye of the storm. She could only play hide-and-seek with us within this limited area. I chased after her and saw “Twin-Sword” Rhode struck down by Sister Liwei’s blade. I ran past them. “Death’s-Blade” ducked into a small alley and disappeared.
I chased her to the mouth of the alley and looked in. There was no one inside. Crap! Did I lose her in the one second she was out of my sight?
Just as I hesitated, killing intent descended from above!
“As long as I kill you, it will all be over—”
Death’s-Blade’s sword chopped down toward me, but in the end, it stopped in mid-air, just a few inches away.
Lian Qi was standing in front of me, gripping the blade that was aimed at me with her bare hand.
Time seemed to freeze for a few seconds. Death’s-Blade stared at Lian Qi, a trace of cold surprise on her face.
“You think I’ll let you succeed twice?” Lian Qi said coldly.
The surprise on Death’s-Blade’s face was fleeting. She gave a sinister smile, and her other hand emerged from beneath her black trench coat.
“That sword was just a feint. This one is the real ‘Death’s-Blade’!”
The sword in her other hand stabbed violently at Lian Qi!
Lian Qi leaned her body back in an emergency dodge. A cold light flashed, and Death’s-Blade pulled back, creating distance. Looking at Lian Qi’s arm, a cut had been opened.
I was shocked. Even with a magical defense, she still got cut?
Death’s-Blade pointed at Lian Qi coldly. “You’re already dead.”
Lian Qi’s wound had been afflicted with a magical curse that prevented healing, and blood instantly seeped out. She was silent. She just raised her arm. The wound showed a high-energy reaction, and then— BOOM!!!
Death’s-Blade stared, dumbfounded. “What? You… you made your arm explode?”
“I detonated the magic you attached to my wound,” Lian Qi said coldly, her raised arm smoking.
“Your magic has been broken by me.”
That sentence seemed to hit Death’s-Blade’s weak spot. She shook her head in disbelief. “That’s impossible! I’ve killed 998 people to date, and I’ve never heard of this happening!”
“That’s because you’d never met me.”
Lian Qi punched the air violently. Cracks actually appeared in the air itself, spreading all the way to Death’s-Blade’s side and suddenly triggering an explosion that engulfed her!
“Damn it! How can a mere fourth-tier magician’s magic have so much power?”
Death’s-Blade, wreathed in a purple magical defense, retreated from the explosion in a sorry state. She had no intention of fighting and turned to run, but Sister Aijieliya blocked her path.
“Your comrades have all been wiped out,” my sister said, her voice ice-cold.
Death’s-Blade “tsked” again and tried to flee in another direction, only to run right into Sister Liwei.
“Where are you trying to go?” Sister Liwei asked with a grin, her sword on her shoulder.
She “tsked” again and glanced back, seeing the figure of an elf with mint-green hair. That escape route was also blocked by Sister Mouyue.
Sister Aijieliya, Sister Liwei, and Sister Mouyue converged, with Death’s-Blade at the center.
Death’s-Blade stood there hesitantly, wanting to charge but not daring to. The Magic Academy Headmaster, the Sword Saint, a platinum-ranked adventurer… not a single one of them was someone she could easily handle. She had no way out.
“You actually dared to assassinate my little sister? Who gave you that courage?” Sister Aijieliya said coldly.
“How about… we take turns stabbing her?” Sister Liwei suggested. Her mischievous expression looked like she’d been possessed by a cat, and even her actions seemed like she was toying with a mouse.
