Chapter 49

“So many of you against just me! This isn’t fair!” Death’s Blade waved her long blade, pointing at us. My sisters just looked at her as if she were a joke.

“Why would we talk about fairness with someone like you?” Sister Aijieliya adjusted the brim of her pointed wizard hat and said to her coldly, “To be honest, the only reason you’re still alive right now is because I promised my little sister I wouldn’t kill.”

Originally, Sister had wanted to make them disappear from the world forever, but I managed to persuade her otherwise.

“I refuse to accept this! I demand a one-on-one duel!”

“Fine, I’ll be your opponent.” Sister Liwei said, thrusting her greatsword into the ground in front of her. “If you can beat me, the title of ‘Sword Saint’ is yours.”

Unexpectedly, Death’s Blade pointed her sword tip at me and said, “I demand to duel you one-on-one!”

Her words were met with everyone’s laughter.

“Like hell we’d listen to you,” Sister Liwei scoffed. “I originally thought you wanted to die with a bit of dignity, but I didn’t expect you to try and pull a trick.”

“Alright, I accept.” I took a step forward. My sisters stared at me, stunned.

“Fei’er, what did you just say?” I heard the disbelief in Sister Aijieliya’s voice, but I really wasn’t joking.

“Then I’ll take your place,” Lian Qi said, pulling me behind her.

I grabbed Lian Qi’s hand and pulled her back. “N-No, it’s fine. Just leave this to me this time, okay?” I said, glancing at Death’s Blade. “I am willing to accept your challenge.”

“Really, there’s a limit to this nonsense,” Lian Qi said, her voice a little agitated, as if she was angry.

“No! Fei’er, what you’re doing is too dangerous! I’m just going to kill her now.” Sister Aijieliya said, shifting anxiously.

“That’s right, little sister Kefei’er. You should listen to your sister. Don’t be fooled by her goading.”

Even Sister Mouyue was saying this. I knew everyone was worried about me, but I had already thought this through carefully. I wasn’t just messing around.

“It’s okay, Sister Aijieliya,” I reassured her. I walked out of my sisters’ protective circle, and pure white Holy Light coalesced into a hammer in my palm.

“I also want to know just how strong I am.”

I spun the hammer in my hand a few times and faced Death’s Blade in a standoff.

I saw a triumphant smile spread across her face because I was her opponent. How baffling.

“Even if you broke my magic, it doesn’t matter. I will plunge my blade into your throat.” She also took a stance, holding her black blade, the gleaming tip pointed right at me.

“Don’t be so sure of yourself.” I held the hammer in a reverse grip, ready for whatever attack she might launch.

But she didn’t attack immediately. Instead, she circled me cautiously, probably observing my movements, looking for a single opportunity for a fatal blow. A well-trained assassin, indeed. She was different from those people outside who just rushed me head-on.

Her figure suddenly flickered. I raised my hammer at the same time, and she retreated to her original spot.

Then she continued to circle.

Was that a feint? I was baffled by her behavior of attacking halfway and then pulling back. But I saw a drop of sweat roll down her cheek.

“Could it be… are you a body double for the Saintess, trained by the Church?”

“I am the real one.”

The moment the words left my mouth, she attacked, taking advantage of my speaking. I raised my hammer again, and she retreated to her original spot and continued circling. It was the same thing over and over. However, compared to her last attack, she had gotten twenty centimeters closer to me. I guess that’s progress.

At this rate, she’d probably need to try about a hundred more times before she could touch me.

“Damn it! You look like you’re full of openings, yet it’s like you have no openings at all!” she growled, glaring at me with hatred.

I gave a weak smile. “What you’re saying is so convoluted.”

She charged again while I was talking. She really went to great lengths to try and distract me.

“I am the fastest person in all of ‘Seven-Leaf Tree’!”

The edge of the Death’s Blade in her hand shot straight for my throat!

“But your speed still isn’t as fast as the Demon King’s gophers.”

I swung my hammer and, before she could pierce me, sent her flying with one hit!

Her whole body spun, slamming spread-eagled into the wall! The wall buckled, and then the entire thing collapsed, burying her.

I heard my sisters sighing—“She brought that on herself.”

“Fei’er, how are your reflexes so fast?” Lian Qi asked, staring at me.

“Well, it’s from all the gopher-whacking practice,” I said with a smile. Seeing her frown and mutter “Hmph,” I knew she didn’t believe me.

“Little sister, be careful. She can still move,” Sister Aijieliya warned me. I looked toward the collapsed wall. Death’s Blade was using her sword to support herself, standing up from the pile of rubble.

“You can still stand after taking a hit from my hammer? You’re pretty strong,” I said sincerely.

“I am the ‘Trunk’ of Seven-Leaf Tree, ‘Death’s Blade’ Yelijia! How could I possibly be defeated here!?” I saw her pull a vial from the inner pocket of her windbreaker. What was that?

“This is a forbidden potion, newly developed by the rebel army’s potion experts! It can enhance my speed and strength for a short time! The side effects are huge, but that doesn’t matter anymore!”

“Hey, don’t do drugs,” I said helplessly.

But unfortunately, she didn’t listen to my warning at all. I watched as she sneered and injected the vial into her neck.

Puchi! The potion flowed through her body with her blood! Gradually, her skin turned red, like a cooked crab.

“Hahahaha! This is the feeling!” She sneered, throwing the empty vial to the ground where it shattered. Then, she vanished.

“You’ll never be able to keep up with my speed!”

Her laughter circled above my head. I stood in place, hammer in hand, and scanned 360 degrees above me. Her figure had turned into a black shadow, darting and leaping around the surrounding buildings, leaving trails behind.

Then, she descended from the sky! BOOM! A violent collision.

When the dust settled, my hammer was blocking the blade she had swung at me.

“Wh-What?” She tried to jump back and create distance, only to find her blade was stuck to my hammer and she couldn’t pull it away.

“I gave the Holy Light the properties of glue,” I said, staring at her calmly from behind the hammer.

The surprise on her face vanished, replaced by a vicious smile. “You think the ‘Death’s Blade’ is just a blade?”

At the same time, she used magic to conjure a black pistol and aimed it at me—

I heard my sisters’ cries of surprise, and “Death’s Blade” Yelijia’s maniacal laughter!

“Hahahaha! Serves you right, getting your head blown off!”

Head blown off?

I spat out the bullet.

“This hammer is for Qifeng.”

I swung the hammer just like whack-a-mole. One strike overturned the ground and smashed her deep into the earth!
