Chapter 36
“You can’t give up now. Why don’t you try practicing with the Enchantment school first to get a feel for it?” I cheered Lian Qi on.
“I know, that’s why I picked up so many branches.”
The branches Lian Qi mentioned were piled on the coffee table. I had helped her pick them up; there were probably several dozen.
Qifeng sat on the sofa with her legs curled up, hugging a pillow, and asked, “You’ve already had your Enchantment class, right? Do you understand the characteristics of the Enchantment school? For example, why mages from the Enchantment school are more proficient with ‘Magic Encirclement’ and ‘Magic Armament’ than others.”
“Because the characteristic of the Enchantment school is to enchant objects with magic power. ‘Magic Encirclement’ is essentially enchanting the body with magic power, and ‘Magic Armament’ is essentially concentrating magic power to enchant a specific part of the body. Aren’t these the things that Enchantment school mages are best at?”
Eh? Could it be that Lian Qi was able to listen attentively while she was distracting me and teasing me? Or did she really read the class notes I wrote? She answered so fluently.
“But—” Lian Qi, holding a branch, unleashed her crystal-red magic power. “Now I’ll try to enchant an object other than my own body.”
“Mhm, you can do it!”
When she’s in serious-mode, she has a really powerful aura in my eyes. As I recall, this is the first time Lian Qi has tried to enchant an object other than her body. I just saw the branch in her hand light up, glowing red!
If it failed, the light would disappear, or the branch would be unable to withstand the magic power and break into several pieces. However, Lian Qi didn’t fail, she succeeded on the first try!? Right now, the branch in her hand is shining, like a red glow stick.
“This… what is this, a lightsaber from Star Wars?” Lian Qi examined the “branch” for a moment, then casually handed it to me— “Here, try and see if you can break it.”
I tried. Forget breaking it, I couldn’t even bend it. A small branch, after being enchanted, actually became as sturdy as metal. This must be the secret art of the Enchantment school, right? To think that the lemon slice Sister Aijieliya enchanted was sharp enough to cut vegetables.
“The enchantment was very successful,” I gave Lian Qi a thumbs up.
“I accidentally put too much magic power on it, and it turned into a lightsaber… I don’t know how long the enchantment effect will last, after all, it’s my first time trying to enchant an object.”
At this point, Qifeng also leaned over curiously— “Let me try to bend it, too.”
Lian Qi had casually given me the so-called “lightsaber,” and I casually gave it to Qifeng. She held it in her hand, raised it high, and said in amazement, “You’re amazing. If the enchantment failed, even a real sword would break into several pieces, let alone a small branch.”
Hearing Qifeng say this, I felt— Lian Qi really is talented.
“If it were a real sword, it would be even more powerful after being enchanted, right? It doesn’t seem too difficult for me, but I can’t possibly wield an enchanted sword to fight people in the graduation festival ranking tournament, can I? Would that really be a mage? It gives me a ‘Gandalf’ kind of vibe…”
“Gandalf… who’s that?” I asked weakly.
“A mage who put all his stats into health and stamina, maxed out skills like one-handed and two-handed sword mastery, block, armor break, critical hit, and whirlwind, and for magic skills, only learned one, ‘Holy Light’.”
I looked at Lian Qi with a blank expression. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have asked… because I don’t understand.”
“In short, it’s fighting like a warrior. If I don’t learn an inherent magic before the graduation festival ranking tournament, I’ll really become like that,” Lian Qi said, casually picking up another branch and enchanting it. She succeeded again.
Suddenly, something cold poked me in the waist— s-so ticklish!!! My whole body shuddered and I turned around. Aha! So it was Qifeng, secretly poking me in the back with the “lightsaber”!
“Silly girl, what are you doing? You know I’m ticklish, and you still…”
She covered her mouth, stifling a laugh. I turned back around, and she poked me again!!! I couldn’t take it anymore. I said to Lian Qi, “Let me borrow this,” snatched the “lightsaber” from her hand, and charged at Qifeng—!
The moment that silly girl saw me, she turned and ran. I chased her around the sofa a few times, brandishing the “lightsaber.” The dorm’s living room is too small for us to chase each other around. When she saw I was about to catch her, she played dirty and lay down on the sofa, kicking at me in resistance. I suddenly got playful and we “dueled” with the “lightsabers” for a few bouts. She was quickly pinned down on the sofa by me; she’s just too weak.
Giving up so quickly, I could already guess what her mindset was. She was deliberately provoking me and then enjoying being bullied by me. What a child.
Ugh…
When we came back to our senses—
We found Lian Qi staring at us, dumbfounded.
“S-Sorry…”
I climbed off Qifeng, both shy and agitated, raising a hand to cover my mouth. I call Qifeng childish, but I’m… just as bad.
“I really regret not taking a picture of that just now.”
“Please don’t…” I said, blushing. I suddenly felt really bad for Lian Qi. She’s clearly worrying about her magic, and here I am, fooling around with Qifeng.
“It’s all my fault. I’m the one who provoked Fei’er first,” Qifeng said apologetically.
“It’s fine. It just shows you’re not wary of me, you can be yourselves in front of me.” Lian Qi said, then sighed again— “Sigh, I can’t believe you two are actually the same age as me…”
